How to Choose Jade

Nephrite jade is one of the hardest stones in the world, measuring about 6.5 on the Moh’s hardness scale.

Nephrite Jade is carved using a diamond encrusted blade. Because of this quality, nephrite jade can be carved into amazing original sculptures and works of art.

Compared to Burma or jadeite, nephrite jade is dark green in colour and generally has natural inclusions such as black iron flecks, formed within the stone. However, higher quality nephrite jade, also known as Polar Jade, is bright emerald green in colour, resembling Imperial Jade.

Our jewelry pieces are all made using A grade nephrite jade, with an even bright green colour throughout and minimal inclusions.

To examine the quality of a piece of nephrite jade, we suggest to look at the stone underneath a bright light, which will reveal any natural inclusions.
